Scott's Profile

Scott started playing badminton when he was six years old. Regular trips to The Mecca of Irish Badminton at Whitehall Road in Dublin with his brother developed his talents and he was spotted by Pat Marron who then started coaching him through his early teens. Scott won every tournament worth mentioning as a young lad but it was when he won the Leinster U19 open at the tender age of 15 that his flair and talent for the game started to shine through.

Scott started to play on the European tour when he was only 15 years old and he started to focus on his badminton during his fourth year in Wesley College Dublin. In January 2005 Scott decided to commit full time to his sport and decided to move to Denmark and started training in the International Badminton Academy. Scott spent a year at the IBA and while playing in the Italian Open in 2006 he met up with Jim Laugesen and a friendship spawned and it was decided that Scott would further his career in Denmark under the stewardship of Jim. Scott moved back to Denmark and started training full time with Jim and now plays for the Danish Club Gentofte Badminton Club where he partners former world number 3 and Danish legend Anders Boesen in the Danish Premier league.

Scott’s ambition is to represent Ireland in the Olympics in Beijing 2008 and he is well on the way to achieving that goal. Outside of that he has a burning desire to claim his first EBU title and to break into the worlds top 16 elite players which would be a first for Irish Badminton.
